November: What’s On at Cork & Chroma?

Where has this year gone? November is knocking, which means silly season is just around the corner. The festive season is our busiest time of year, with work parties, hens parties, and Christmas parties galore! Needless to say, November is shaping up to be jam-packed full of fun. We’re painting with drag queens, collaborating with wineries, launching a new painting series, and more! Here’s a little snippet of what’s happening at Cork & Chroma in our Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne studios.

Christmas Parties 

Painting with loved ones is a joyous way to come together and celebrate the end of the year. In November and December the Christmas spirit is in full swing in our studios, with groups of friends, families, and work teams booking to our public sessions, or booking the whole studio for private events. If you’re looking to celebrate with your people, now’s the time to book, as our private event time slots fill up quickly! Come along to paint, sip, and connect, and leave with your very own unique masterpiece. Hang it up when you get home or wrap it up and give it to your mum for Christmas — painting really is the gift that keeps on giving! For those of you who celebrate Christmas, keep your eyes peeled for our small selection of Christmas paintings running in each studio towards the end of the year… these special seasonal paintings take festive cheer to a whole new level. Oh, and if you’re getting in early with the Christmas pressie shopping, what about a voucher? These can be up to any value, and used toward a painting session or anything in our awesome (if we do say so ourself) gift shop. 

Paint Your Inner Queen in Brisbane with BeBe Gunn

There’s a reason our Paint Your Inner Queen sessions with BeBe Gunn sell out every time… she’s a star! One of Queensland’s most irreverent queens, BeBe is your sassy, Sambuca-drinking trash pony, who’ll undoubtedly leave you in stitches all night long. This session will be held in our South Brisbane studio on November 12th, and be quick, there are only a few tickets left to snaffle up!

Our Paint Your Inner Queen sessions celebrate LGBTIQA+ pride, drag artistry and self-expression through paint; they are designed to express everything that makes you wonderfully yourself. Strap in for an awe-inspiring drag performance and quippy tips from BeBe Gunn, as well as step-by-step guidance from one of our experienced Cork & Chroma artists. At the end of the night, you’ll leave with sore cheeks from laughing, and your own queen on canvas to hang up as a reminder of how fabulous you are. BYO friends, nibbles, and favourite thing to drink, and we’ll supply the rest!

Wine tasting and painting in Melbourne 

This November, Cork & Chroma is partnering with local winemakers Rob Dolan Wines to bring you a delightful evening painting our crowd favourite piece Parisian Stroll, while sipping on wines from the beautiful Yarra Valley. Your seat includes a guided tasting of Rob Dolan’s Black Label Arneis and White Label Pinot Gris with wine specialist Holly, as well as a complimentary glass to enjoy as you begin the session. We’ve got all the painting supplies covered, including step-by-step guidance from a Cork & Chroma artist to help you create your version of this French piece. You’ll take home your masterpiece at the end of the night, and perhaps you’ll even have a new favourite wine made by Melbourne locals. This session is held at our Melbourne studio; as with our regular Cork & Chroma sessions, you are welcome to bring your own additional drinks and snacks. Baguette and cheese, anyone?

Vino and Vinyl: our new painting series! 

For the record, we have a brand new series called Vino and Vinyl, where we switch out our canvases for vintage records, and turn them into funky artworks to hang on your wall. These sessions are more laid back than our regular sessions, as vinyl is a very different medium to paint on to canvas. Painting on vinyl is a bit like painting your fingernails; rather than painting one thick coat, you need several layers to reach the desired lustre and opacity. This process makes for a chilled, low key but high vibe session, with a little less guided instruction from our artist, and more time to sip and chat with your fellow painters. 

We’ll have our popular C&C playlist playing in the background to keep you inspired: from chilled vibes, to jazz, pop, and rock and roll, there’s something for every music taste!

Paint along with the original colour palette, or put your own spin on it! At the end, we reach our vinyl destination and waltz out the door with a finished, hand-painted record to hang somewhere cool. Paint with Children

Bring your kids and your imagination along to our Family Paint session in South Bank, Brisbane on the 20th November. With guidance from a Cork & Chroma artist, you and your mini me/s will each paint your own canvas to create colourful custom monsters together. Add fuzzy fur, googly eyes, three bellybuttons, razor sharp claws… it’s your monster, so you can paint it however you like! Each painter’s canvas is 25x30cm and the session runs for two hours. These sessions are recommended for children aged 6-11. At the end of the session, you and your little ones will leave with your own monster masterpieces to hang proudly on the wall at home!
